New faces of Prem Prachakorn Canal and Saen Saeb Canal to be revealed

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is driving the renovation of Prem Prachakorn Canal and Saen Saeb Canal to create an awareness of canal utilization and conservation for an elevated quality of life of the people living nearby.

The Prem Prachakorn Canal renovation project is now at phase 4, covering 10,700 meters or the areas nearby the canal from Chaengwattana Road to Thetsaban Songkhro Road. It is said that 2,825 meters has been completed. Meanwhile, the Saen Saeb Canal renovation project is still at the initial phase- exploring the nearby communities of the canal, and investigating sewages, water treatment approaches, and the installation of grease traps.

The residents along Prem Prachakorn Canal have been suffering from polluted water resulted from trashing and poor water draining system. Similarly, the people living along Saen Saeb Canal have been dealing with extremely-polluted water caused by household water disposal to the canal. The projects aim to create the right knowledge for the people who live by canals to fully make use of canals and the space nearby, and boost social responsibility to upkeep the well-being of the environment.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has seriously been taking action on policy implementation to revive water quality in canals throughout the city since the 2011 Thailand floods. It is revealed that the water draining system is the main cause to be solved.
