Airports of Thailand (AOT) projects that more than 70,000 people will fly in and out of the country daily following the government’s decision to ease travel restrictions on June 1. The transport minister said the agency has been working on various measures to make it easier for inbound travelers.
Despite the Thailand Pass system still being in place, AOT noted that various procedures have been streamlined. It projects that the number of air passengers in the country will increase to 70,000 in June from 64,000. It also expects the average daily flights to increase to 480 from 440.
According to Saksayam, the transport minister, the country’s tourism industry is expected to continue to grow during the fourth quarter of the year due to the improving economic situation in China and the improvement in the situation in Ukraine. He also noted that the increase in flight bookings could also be due to the government’s efforts to make it easier for inbound travelers.
