Exporters are advised to double-check product origins before shipping

The government has urged agencies to thoroughly inspect all of Thailand’s exports to ensure that they are of good quality. Prime Minister Gen. Chan-o-cha made the warning after noting that other countries’ confidence in the country’s exports might be affected.

Following up on the issue, the Commerce Ministry warned local and foreign companies to strictly follow regulations when it comes to exporting goods to the US and the European Union. A certificate of origin is an important part of an international trade agreement that shows that the goods are made and processed in a country.

The Foreign Trade Department also warned that exporters might have to pay additional fees if the goods they send don’t meet the regulations of the destination countries. This could affect Thailand’s reputation and cause other countries to doubt its exports.

A government spokesperson urged all parties involved in the export industry to work together to increase the country’s export potential. He noted that Prime Minister Prayut has noted the growing demand for Thai products in other countries. The official also noted that the country can develop its food industry as it focuses on addressing environmental and healthcare issues.
