The OSMEP, the government agency promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), will this month submit a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Finance Ministry to encourage the production of high-quality products. According to Veerapong Malai, the agency’s director-general, customers will be able to submit their product receipts to the local tax office for a tax reduction of up to 10,000.
He also noted that the products should be purchased through the government’s e-wallet app, which is known as “Pao Tang”. The agency’s director-general said his office will discuss the details of the program with the Finance Ministry in the coming weeks.
Although the agency initially supported the measure, Veerapong noted that it would be implemented in a way that is similar to the previous tax reduction programs. He also said that the participating vendors would be labeled. The director-general said the program would only be implemented for the SMEs.
