(3 June 2022) Mr Chatchart Sitthiphan, Governor of Bangkok, revealed the identity of the chairman of tree planting activities. On the occasion of the birthday celebration of Her Majesty the Queen at Fort Mahakan Park, Phra Nakhon District that Bangkok has organised tree planting activities. In the area of Mahakan Fort and all public parks of Bangkok, a total of about 2,600 trees with the aim of planting 1 million trees for Mahakan Fort.
There was a battle to bring back the community area, which is a thing of the past. But how can we make this space valuable? Add a workout area or a learning area? Or organise various public events?
There are two forts in Bangkok, namely Fort Mahakan and Fort Phra Sumen, which are relics of great historical and cultural value. The first plan that was done before was trees selected for the area around the above relics; it has to be concerned about the soil, weather, and sizes of the trees; it also has to be noted those roots should not expose or extend to the sidewalk.
There is an app that can track who planted the trees and the growth status, with the People’s Alliance helping to take care of the trees to stay with the city, including encouraging community enterprises to help plant seedlings; it is another way to promote community economic income.
“Trees can be planted in every district and are not limited to parks or organised by district governments. It can be grown in buildings, shops, or residences. Planting trees is a great family activity that we can also do using different areas in the park. In addition, it was suggested to hold musical performances in the park every Sunday, such as Suan Rot Fai, Lumphini Park is an area where music and arts can be expressed. People can bring their families to relax, exercise, and have stress relief; it can also help connect the citizens,” the Bangkok governor said.
