The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize several events in Bangkok to boost tourism and revitalize the local economy.
Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, announced following his meeting with TAT on strategies to boost tourism in Bangkok, that both parties have agreed to set up a joint team to oversee events and activities to promote the cultural features of each district of Bangkok. The Bangkok Metropolitan Government will act as a facilitator and provide logistical support for utilities and infrastructure, while the Tourism Authority of Thailand will serve as the lead agency for the project because of its experience in tourism management.
At least 12 major events will be organized to attract domestic and international tourists, such as the open-air film festival this month and the boat race festival in October. Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt believes that these events will stimulate the economy and provide quality entertainment for domestic and international participants.
