Thailand Updates the World on Carbon Reduction Efforts At COP 27

The Environment Minister of Thailand is now in Egypt to represent his country at the United Nations’ COP27 summit. Their mission is to report on the nation’s efforts to combat climate change and adopt carbon reduction strategies. Thai delegates also said their country will help with international climate change initiatives.

Egypt’s Sharm el Sheikh resort is hosting the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).

Thailand’s Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Warawut Silpa-archa, has been participating in international talks about the best ways to combat climate change. Greenhouse gas emissions are a major contributor to global warming, and he’s talking about policies and inventions that may help cut those numbers.

Important strides have been achieved in the implementation of the world’s first carbon credit transfer agreement between Thailand and Switzerland, which sets the way for future carbon credit exchange models. Additionally, Thailand has launched a carbon credit trade platform with the hope of making the country a hub for the voluntary trading of carbon credits. The goal of the initiative’s current discussion among ASEAN member states is to broaden the initiative’s reach to include the whole region.

Over the last year, Thailand has successfully reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and implemented initiatives to respond to climate change. The government of the kingdom is working hard to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050 and achieve net zero emissions by the year 2065.

Short-term and long-term initiatives established by the monarchy were presented to the COP27 conference as examples of Thailand’s efforts to combat global warming.
