The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Meets with Muslim Youth Leaders

Youth leaders from Southeast Asia’s Muslim communities met with Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan on November 30, who emphasized Thailand’s religious freedom and commitment to assisting the Muslim community in enhancing their livelihoods.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan stressed religious freedom in Thailand, where everyone has the right to follow any religion they want and the king serves as the protector of religions. Regardless of their religious convictions, he noted, this composition permits Thais to develop intimate relationships with one another.

The deputy prime minister also stated that the administration is dedicated to redeveloping the southern border regions so that Muslim brothers and sisters can live better lives.

He stated that the government would continue supporting the missions of Muslim youth and student organisations for humanity and the public good, as well as fostering collaboration between the government and the civil sector, which is essential for social progress.

The visiting young leaders are members of groups that advocate for an accurate knowledge of Islam, led by the Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP).

Together with the Thai Muslim Student Association (TMSA) and the Young Muslim Association of Thailand (YMAT), the council is hosting the RISEAP Southeast Asia Youth Leadership and Student Leaders Seminar, which is attended by the visiting youth leaders.

From November 28 to 30, Bangkok is hosting the RISEAP Southeast Asia Youth Leadership and Student Leaders Seminar.
