MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2025 Debuts Chon Buri, Highlights Culinary Excellence

Bangkok, 29 November 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled The MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2025, marking the eighth edition of the renowned culinary guide in the country. Expanding its reach to Chon Buri for the first time, the latest edition emphasizes Thailand’s diverse gastronomic offerings and aligns with TAT’s efforts to spotlight lesser-explored destinations.

TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, highlighted the synergy between TAT and The MICHELIN Guide in promoting Thailand as a global gastronomic hub. She noted the guide’s role in supporting the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” campaign, which aims to attract international visitors through unique culinary and cultural experiences.

This year’s guide showcases 462 restaurants across the country. Among the highlights, Sorn in Bangkok made history by becoming Thailand’s first restaurant to earn Three MICHELIN Stars. Seven establishments hold Two MICHELIN Stars, including Côte by Mauro Colagreco, which was promoted from One Star. Meanwhile, 28 restaurants hold One Star, with notable new entries such as AKKEE, AVANT, GOAT, Aulis, and Coda. The guide also recognizes four MICHELIN Green Stars for sustainability and features 156 Bib Gourmand and 270 MICHELIN Selected listings, including 20 entries in Chon Buri.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guides, praised the 2025 edition as a milestone for Thailand, underscoring the innovation and passion of the nation’s chefs. “The first-ever Three MICHELIN Stars restaurant in Thailand highlights the depth and creativity of its culinary scene, solidifying its status as a destination for global food enthusiasts,” he said.

In addition to restaurant accolades, the 2025 guide introduced special awards, including the Young Chef Award to Sittikorn (Ou) Chantop of AKKEE and the Service Award to Yupa (Ying) Sukkasem of Baan Tepa. Furthermore, September 2024 saw the launch of MICHELIN Keys Thailand, honoring 58 hotels for their exceptional hospitality.

Ms. Thapanee concluded by setting ambitious goals for 2025, targeting 39 million international visitors and a 7.5% increase in tourism revenue. She emphasized the guide’s vital role in enhancing Thailand’s reputation as a world-class gastronomic and travel destination.
