Delivery Rider Killed After Road Rage Incident on Sukhumvit Road

A 49-year-old delivery rider was killed in a road rage incident on Sukhumvit Road in the Watthana district of Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon. The driver, 31-year-old Seree Srettheenamwong, was arrested at the scene and faces a murder charge.

The victim, identified as Ritthisak Prakuptanont, was found lying in a pool of blood after police and rescue workers responded to the scene at around 12:30 PM. His motorcycle was severely damaged. A Toyota Altis with a broken right side mirror and front-end damage was discovered nearby.

Seree, the driver of the car, was apprehended at the scene and taken to the Lumpini police station. According to police and witnesses, Seree’s car struck Ritthisak’s motorcycle as he was driving from the Asoke-Sukhumvit intersection towards the Ploenchit intersection. After the collision, Seree failed to stop and drove away, prompting Ritthisak to follow the car.

Ritthisak managed to position his motorcycle in front of Seree’s vehicle, forcing it to halt. He then demanded the driver exit the car to discuss the damages. Seree refused and attempted to drive off, but Ritthisak struck the driver’s side window, prompting Seree to exit his vehicle. He punched Ritthisak, knocking him to the ground, and proceeded to stomp on his body.

Despite the assault, Ritthisak got back on his motorcycle and attempted to escape. Seree, however, pursued him and rammed his car into the rider, causing Ritthisak to be thrown off his bike and struck by a metal pole for a CCTV camera. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ritthisak’s wife, Saijai Tamboon, 40, arrived at the scene with their daughter after hearing the news. Devastated, she wept upon seeing her husband’s body. Ritthisak was the family’s main provider, leaving behind four children aged 8 to 18. Saijai expressed her desire for harsh legal action against the driver.

Police initially charged Seree with murder and reckless driving causing death. He remains in custody pending legal action.
