Starting February 3, 2025, the Department of Highways (DOH) will adjust the road closure schedule on Rama 2 Road (Highway 35) to facilitate the construction of the M82 motorway, part of the planned Bangkhuntian-Ban Phaew expressway. The new schedule will close the main lanes between the Mahachai New Town and Ban Phaew intersections in Samut Sakhon province from 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM daily, an hour earlier than the previous closure time, which started at 8:00 PM. However, drivers can still use the parallel road lanes in both directions as usual.
The M82 project, aimed at enhancing travel efficiency and improving logistics within the country, is progressing according to schedule. To minimize disruptions, the Department of Highways has announced alternative routes for drivers. For those heading south, recommended detours include Petchkasem Road (Highway 4) and Borommaratchachonnani Road, passing through Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi provinces. Drivers heading to Samut Sakhon can take the Ekachai-Bang Bon route, while those traveling to Samut Songkhram can use the Ban Phaew-Prapathone road or Samut Songkhram-Bang Phae road.
The Department of Highways has urged road users to plan their journeys in advance, check alternate routes, and allocate extra time for their travels to ensure safety and convenience during the construction period. They also apologized for any inconvenience this might cause and thanked the public for their cooperation. For further information, the public can contact the DOH hotline at 1586 or the M82 project team at 06-3192-1586.
