Headline: Pattaya Offers Free Thai Massages to Boost Employment and Combat Poverty

Pattaya has launched a new initiative that allows both residents and visitors to enjoy free Thai massages and foot reflexology. The program, which aims to tackle unemployment and poverty, is part of a broader effort to promote job creation and self-sufficiency within the community. The free services will be available until February 17, 2025, at Pattaya City Hall, and offer a unique opportunity for the public to help support local job seekers while enjoying a relaxing experience.

The initiative is organized by the city’s Social Welfare Office and aligns with Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, which focuses on sustainability and empowering individuals. As part of the training program, participants are gaining hands-on experience in Thai massage and foot reflexology, essential skills for obtaining certification and securing stable employment.

From now until mid-February, Pattaya residents and visitors can take advantage of these free services daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the exception of weekends and public holidays (February 12 and 13). This program not only provides a much-needed break for individuals seeking relaxation but also offers valuable real-world practice for the trainees, many of whom are hoping to establish a stable income for their families.

The initiative has been well received by the community, with locals and tourists praising the program as a mutually beneficial arrangement. By participating, the public helps trainees gain practical experience, while also receiving quality massage services at no cost.

For more information on the program, individuals are encouraged to contact Pattaya’s Social Welfare Office’s Employment Promotion and Development Section.

In a related development, the tragic death of 20-year-old Thai singer Chayada “Phing” Praohom has prompted renewed attention to safety standards in the massage industry. Praohom passed away on December 8, 2024, after complications from a herniated cervical disc, allegedly linked to a massage treatment. This incident highlights the importance of regulated practices and proper training to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals seeking massage therapies.
