On February 13, 2025, at the Asian Road Cycling Championships in Bueng Si Fai, Phichit, Thailand’s cyclists continued their strong performance, claiming two gold medals and one bronze. Adisak Tailangkha earned the top spot in the 64.20km men’s master 30-34 age category, finishing in 1:30.24 hours. Hong Kong’s Wang Hin Cheng and Man Fu Yeung secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively, with times of 1:31.41 hours.
Meanwhile, in the men’s master 35-39 age group, Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn raced to victory with a time of 1:26.51 hours. He was followed by Ali Ilyas Jawaid of Pakistan, who took the silver with 1:28.07 hours. Narondej Sangchai, also from Thailand, claimed bronze with a time of 1:29.32 hours.
Earlier in the day, Thanapat Sakuntae, despite suffering from leg cramps, showed resilience in the 117.70km men’s junior individual road race. Sakuntae finished in 2:40.20 hours to win the bronze medal. Hong Kong’s Hon Man Yip secured the gold with a narrow victory at 2:40.17 hours, while Iran’s Nabi Seyyed Mohammad Mirbagheri took silver in 2:40.20 hours.
Thanapat expressed his pride after the race, attributing his achievement to his determination and support from his team and family. “After struggling with cramps in the 10th lap, I pushed through because I wanted to show my fans that I could do it,” he said. His coach, Gen Decha Hemkrasri, praised his effort, noting that although Thanapat is too young to compete in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, he will be sent to upcoming international events, including the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain later this year.
The next day’s races include the 127.10km men’s U23 junior road race and the women’s junior road race, both of which will feature additional medal opportunities for Thailand.
