The government advises people investing to check offer makers

As more consumers turn to internet banking and social media for their financial needs, fraudsters have found new ways to take advantage of the trusting. The government has issued a warning to the general public to constantly check the backgrounds of offer makers before investing.

According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek, investment frauds on social media have been suppressed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

A new service called SEC Check First was released by both organizations to help the general public verify information before acting on it.

The SEC’s online database includes information about firms and individuals that provide investing services and products, such as cryptocurrency. In addition, the site enables users to search for individuals and businesses that have been flagged as potential unauthorized investors.

Evidence of Ponzi scheme offers can be reported to the 1212 Online Complaint Center, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society’s online monitoring Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/DESMonitor, or the police at https://thaipoliceonline.com.
